complaints regarding animal neglect and cruelty. Collects stray dogs and houses them in
the Animal Shelter for redemption. Provide adoption services for unclaimed dogs.

The Riverhead Animal Shelter is located on
Youngs Avenue, in Riverhead. The Dog Control Officer is available to answer resident calls
concerning stray animals in our community.
When an animal is collected by the officer, it is held for redemption by its rightful
owner for 7 days. After the 7 day period has expired, the animal becomes available for
adoption. Contact the Animal Shelter for redemption and adoption information.
