Paper Bagged Leaf Program

The Town is divided into six districts and pick up days for household trash and bulk/yard waste vary from district
to district.  Recycling is collected every Wednesday and alternates weekly between co-mingled and
paper/cardboard.  Service is provided to residential properties by private carters under contract to the Town of
Riverhead.  Collection is not provided to condos, apartments, mobile homes, churches, businesses, schools
or other institutions.  In addition to curbside pickup of yard waste, residents may purchase a permit and dispose
of yard debris (branches, leaves, grass clippings, etc.)  at the Town's Yard Waste Facility located on Young's
Avenue Riverhead, NY  11901.  This facility is for residents only, no contractors/landscapers are permitted.

The Town holds two Stop Throwing Out Pollutants dates (S.T.O.P Day), one in May and one in October.
This program is held at the Town Highway yard at 1177 Osborne Avenue, Riverhead NY  11901.
Residents may bring hazardous waste to this location for disposal, free of charge, on the designated dates only.

Residents should contact the Sanitation Department for pick up schedules and may visit the Town's website
at townofriverheadny.gov for additional helpful information.
